Hi Nonhlakanipho, I was not involved in the selection of the delegates for the conference so I am not 100% sure about the selection criteria - you should contact the conference team (headed by Traci Reddy for more info about this). The applicatons are unfortunately now closed.
Where are you from?
Please join us for the cocktail function during the conference - would be lovely to meet you!
hi emily, what else do you look at except for being final year student because I really wanted to be part of the conference but unfortunatly I did not succeed and sadly I will never get the chance again as I'm definatly finishing this year.I had been trying to join the girleng programme for a while but I guess been talking to the wrong people.Anyway I still have hope as I know from experience that there is a need of knowlegde about engineering for the upcoming student engineeers.
Best of luck to all our Delegates that were chosen and may all that they learn at the conference be made useful for the upcoming students.Have fun guys!!!!!!!
Hi Kgomotso, at the moment we do give preference to final year students because their time to attend the conference is limitted, whereas peole in their first year of varsity still have a few years ahead of them to apply and re-apply. Please do not be discouraged about applying as a first year student because all years are still considered.
are first year students also given preferance?i think they should be u know,so as to make sure we're all making correct decisions about entering the world of engineering.
All years of engineering undergraduates are considered, but as far as I am aware preference is given to the later years because these are the people who will be entering industry sooner. But all are free to apply - it is up to you to motivate why you should be chosen. Best of Luck!
Yes you will have to trave to cape town for the conference since that is where the conference will be held. But SAWomEng will book, arrange and pay for your flights should you be accepted for the SAWomEng conference. All you have to do is tell us where you will be travelling from - this information is requested on the application form. I hope that helps...?
