Women in Engineering Conference

by Naadiya Moosajee on Friday, Sep 3rd, 2010
A women in engineering conference is being held by the intelligence transfer centre on the 9th & 10th November 2010 in Johannesburg. They have an exciting line up of speakers and more information can be found in their press release below:

MINISTER TO ADDRESS WOMEN IN ENGINEERING CONFERENCE

As part of their women focused conferences, Intelligence Transfer Centre(ITC) will once again bring you a unique event honing in on Women in Engineering which will take place on 9 and 10 November 2010 at Glenburn Lodge, Johannesburg.

The research conducted by ITC showed that women engineers have to work twice as hard to prove their worth and make their mark. Delegates who attend the conference will be able to join fellow women who have made it against all odds in a previously male dominated environment.  The question remains: "are women entering this field regressing or progressing?".  This is among the issues to be discussed and also how women can be attracted and retained within the engineering environment.

Delegates who attend the conference will be inspired by a line-up of 11 speakers which include the Minister of Mineral Resources, Honourable Susan Shabangu, Dr. Aprille Ericsson, a Rocket scientist from NASA and Dr. Michele Kruger, Associate Director at CSV Water Consulting Engineerings.

Each women attending will receive a gift and be pampered to a massage at the end of the conference during a workshop on leadership styles - talk about multi-skilling.
