Background education:
I completed my high school education at Pretoria High School for Girls, then proceeded to the University of Cape Town where I obtained my BSc degree in civil engineering. Role in the organisation
I am co-founder of SAWomEng. The co-founders hold weekly skype meetings with the National executive in order to ‘trouble-shoot’ and advise. My particual strength is proposal writing and organizational development (starting up new projects e.g. GirlEng). As Co-founders Naadiya and I share the roles of recruiting and maintaining sponsors.
Achievements:
At the tender age of 25, these are my most notable achievements:
• Founded a non-profit organisation which has inspired thousands of women and girl-children to engage in the practise of engineering in South Africa.
• Working as a design engineer for 4 years and designing the infrastructure which enhances people’s livelihoods like water lines and roads.
• Being head-hunted by a small group of entrepreneurs who believe in furthering development in Africa and changing Africa one project at a time
• Being selected as one of the Mail and Guardian’s ‘300 young People you should take out to lunch’
• Being selected as a member of a project team which is drafting the implementation strategy for the Gauteng green economy
Words to live by -personal mantra:
There is no simpler way to bring out the God in you than to do what you do with intense honesty, love, focus, passion and total spiritual commitment.
